Oahu Cliffside Adventure Elopement
by adventure elopement photographer team Sydney and Ryan
Ashley and Kevin’s Oahu cliffside adventure elopement will be a celebration we will never forget. Ashley and Kevin had their hearts set on having their ceremony on an epic cliffside. As time passed and we established our plan for the day, the weather for their elopement week wasn’t very promising. Ashley wanted to avoid the rainy weather because she planned on wearing her dress when they celebrated their marriage with family. However, they still wanted to get married on the day they chose. We decided to meet in the city near their hotel for their ceremony and take portraits at their dream location later in the week.
Their ceremony took place under the shelter of a large building in downtown Honolulu. Ashley and Kevin knew their officiant and had his wife and daughter come along as witnesses and assist in the ceremony. They laughed, prayed, cried, and shared beautiful vows to one another. After the ceremony, we ran over to the Iolani palace for a few portraits in the rain. It was an incredibly special moment to witness and photograph for them.
Later that week, we decided on a time to meet for their portraits. However, weather was again trying to interfere with our plans! We agreed to meet up earlier in the day instead of sunset time to not risk the chance the rain. Even though the sun was bright and it was pretty darn hot out, we celebrated the sunshine and had an amazing time taking their photos and popping champagne to celebrate. We even brought along our portable speaker and they chose their wedding song on the spot and danced. We also had the chance to spot whales from the lookout! We truly admired Ashley and Kevin’s ability to go with the flow and be open to changes in their day. They definitely have an incredible story to tell about their adventure elopement. Congrats again to Ashley and Kevin!
